Hi my name is Lea. I was born with Biliary Atresia. I went through my first surgery when I was two months old. After many complications and hospital visits I received my transplant a week after my first birthday. I have had five surgeries so far and need one more. I’ve stayed at the hospital a lot.
During one of my many visits to the hospital, Child Life gave me “Bear”, a soft fuzzy teddy bear just my size. He makes the best pillow ever. Then another time Megan, (my Child Life Specialist) and some of her friends came and decorated my PICU room with butterflies, birds and flowers. They also gave my mom a wagon to borrow on the days I felt well, so I could go outside. They talked to my brother, too, when he was afraid to come visit me in the hospital. I was glad when he finally came to see me. I missed him.
